Overview & Inspiration
The Crochet tea time centerpiece Pattern turns simple crochet motifs into a colorful handmade decoration for your dining table, tea table, or kitchen island. This project joins several round floral motifs worked in bright shades and finished with a contrasting scalloped border.
Each flower is crocheted separately, making it comfortable to work on in short sessions. Beginners can practice working in rounds, changing yarn colors, and joining motifs, while experienced crafters can easily customize the dimensions and color palette.

Step-by-Step Instructions
- Round 1: Begin with a Magic Ring (MR). Chain 3 (counts as first DC), work 11 DC into the ring (12 sts total). Pull the ring firmly to close, and join with a SL ST into the top of the beginning chain.
- Round 2: Chain 3, work another DC into the same base stitch, CH 1. Work [2 DC into the next stitch, CH 1] and repeat around the circle, joining with a slip stitch.
- Round 3: Slip stitch into the nearest CH-1 space, chain 3. Work [3 DC, CH 2, 3 DC] into the same chain space. Move to the next chain space and repeat [3 DC, CH 2, 3 DC] around the motif, then join with a slip stitch and fasten off.
- Round 4: Attach a second yarn color in any CH-2 space. Chain 1 and work [1 SC, 1 HDC, 3 DC, 1 HDC, 1 SC] into the space to form a rounded petal. Repeat the petal sequence in each chain space around the entire flower, checking that the motif remains flat.
- Round 5: Attach a contrasting color at the top of one petal. Work [SC, HDC, DC, TR, CH 2, SL ST into the first CH, TR, DC] to create a pointed outer edge.
Assembly & Finishing
Make approximately 15 to 17 individual flower medallions using your chosen color combinations. Arrange them into a balanced centerpiece layout, then join them securely and block on a flat surface using pins.
Pro Tips for Best Results
- Always create a test motif first to ensure your finished diameter measures approximately 10 to 12 cm.
- Use a slightly larger hook if your flower curls upward, or a smaller hook if it becomes loose and wavy.
- Choose yarns of similar thicknesses so all motifs remain uniform in size after blocking.
