Step-by-Step Instructions
- Check Gauge: Target gauge is 16 hdc sts × 12 rows = 4 × 4 inches (10 × 10 cm) using a 4.5 mm hook. Always make a swatch first!
- Crochet Back Panel: Work from the bottom up in hdc rows. Chain 69 (XS), 77 (S), 85 (M), 93 (L), 101 (XL), or 109 (2XL). Work hdc in each st across for 63 to 78 rows depending on size until length is reached. Fasten off with a long tail.
- Crochet Front Panels (Make 2): Foundation chain for each front panel: 35 (XS), 39 (S), 43 (M), 47 (L), 51 (XL), or 55 (2XL). Crochet even in hdc until the panel measures about 13 inches (33 cm) to begin V-neck shaping.
- Shape V-Neckline: Decrease using hdc2tog at the inner edge on every second row until you decrease 12 sts (XS/S), 14 sts (M/L), or 16 sts (XL/2XL). Maintain shoulder width.
Assembly & Finishing
Seam the front panels to the back panel at the shoulders and sides. Finish by adding clean crocheted borders using your 4.0 mm hook around the neckline, front opening, armholes, and hem.
Pro Tips for Best Results
- Choose a finished bust circumference 2–4 inches (5–10 cm) larger than your actual measurements for a comfortable fit.
- Block your panels before assembly to ensure crisp edges and professional dimensions.
- Use stitch markers to keep your V-neck decreases uniform across both front panels.
